clash detection mep and structural

I'm running a clash detection between our structural model and our mep model. I am getting clashes detected between each segment of a duct in addition to the clashes between MEP and Structural. My understanding is that there shouldn't be any clashes recorded from elements in the same model just where the two model overlap. Has anyone experienced this? All models were exported from Revit.

Hi Brandon, It's possible to have clashes also between the objects of the same model depending on how the conflict rules have been created. For example, if the maximum value for the minimum distance is set 10mm, all objects (also the objects within the same model) that are closer than 10 mm from each other are recognized as clashes. However, if you don't use Overlap Tolerance or Minimum Distance, and run the conflict check instead just between models, no clashes between the objects of the same model should be recorded. If that is the case, please let me know and I'll investigate the issue further. Hi Heikki, I have the same problem. I'm doing a MEP clash detection for a GC and when i run the conflict checking between the same model and i get the same. I'm starting to believe that it can be the insulation clashing itself since conflicts only appear in connections between fittings and ducts in the HVAC model. The same thing happen when clashing the refrigeration model. The models came from Revit MEP 2012. http://www.teklabimsight.com/photo.jsp?key=c22e726f-2d22-202d-759a-00006ebb8726 http://www.teklabimsight.com/photo.jsp?key=96f0b29b-a086-0ad5-d1a5-000005ce3a9c http://www.teklabimsight.com/photo.jsp?key=8d09b5be-0a09-ee5d-31c8-0000afd116e5

Hi Josue, When you run the conflict check between the objects of the same model Tekla BIMsight recognizes the overlapping objects. So based on the snapshots above, it seems for me that some objects of the HVAC model are clashing. As you say, most probably the fittings and ducts are overlapping, and thus, create a conflict. Please let me know if this logic is somehow contradictory to the conflict check results you receive and we'll investigate the issue further. BR Heikki
