Moving a model

Tekla BIMsight Help/Models/Model relocation/Moving a model

You can move models by picking points in the model view. You can also move models by entering exact distances.

To move a model by picking:

  1. Select an object that belongs to the model you want to move.

  2. Go to the Models tab.

  3. Click the Move button below the model list.

  4. Optional: Unselect the Elevation, X or Y check box to prevent model movement in that direction.

  5. Pick the start point.

    tip

    If you pick an incorrect point, you can start over by clicking the Reset button.

  6. Snap to a second point in the model view to see the distances from the start point.

    You can snap to corner points of objects. Tekla BIMsight displays a gray square on the snap point.

  7. Pick the end point to move the model.

    You can see the distances of the model movement in the Distance, Elevation, X and Y boxes.

  8. Optional: Click the Settings button at the top right of the workspace and select the unit for distance in the Settings dialog box.

  9. Optional: Enter values in the Distance, Elevation, X or Y boxes as required to move the model an exact distance.

    You can add a measurement unit after the value to use a certain measurement unit. The available measurement units are millimeters, centimeters, meters, inches and feet. Examples:

    • 10mm

    • 12cm

    • 0.56m

    • 20in

    • 3.4ft

  10. Optional: To undo the model movement, click the Reset button.

  11. Finish moving the model by pressing the Esc key.
