To ensure that a new collaboration project begins smoothly, you need to set basic ground rules for model authors and suppliers before the project starts.

The first step at the beginning of a project is to outline the methods and the process for all contributors of model data. For example, coordinate systems and naming conventions need to be defined and followed throughout the project. This is to ensure that the models used are compatible with Tekla BIMsight and can be combined with little or no special processing.

You should create a separate guideline document that defines the working methods and conventions. The guideline is distributed to all project parties. A company standard may be developed for this and the standard can be used as template for all projects.
